It's a Justin Bieber world

I do not know if those who will look back to 2010 10 years from now will remember it as the year when Justin Bieber became a star. What I am sure of is that none of the recaps that will come about the entertainment scene at the end of this year will miss out on a mention of the 16 year old from Ontario, Canada. For all you know, his hit tune Baby, might end up being named Song of the Year.

I thought of this while checking out the news of the day and found several items about the Bieber. One, is that he has several nominations at the American Music Awards. Another is that he, or to be precise, his people, are in negotiations with MTV for his own TV series. He is now the spokesperson for an anti-acne skin care line named Proactiv. He has Justin Bieber dolls coming out in time for Christmas. He has written a book, Justin Bieber: First Step 2 Forever: My Story, which is coming out this month. And most unbelievable, he is launching his own line of nail polish!

Given his much talked about hair style and how boys have taken to imitating it everywhere, I once thought that if Bieber would ever be tapped to endorse a product, it would be something for the hair. Shampoo, conditioner or gel. Not nailpolish! But then given his popularity among girls, most notably the tween set and how even little girls are now wearing nail color, I have to admit that it is a very good idea to tie him in with nail polish.

The line is named the One Less Lonely Girl Collection and it is for Nicole by OPI. Each color is inspired by one of Justin’s big hits. Take note of the colors. One Less Lonely Glitter for lavender; Prized Possession Purple, grape; Give Me The First Dance, silver; and Me + Blue for dark blue. There will be more shades coming out next year. So you can be sure to come across somebody wearing one of these colors soon.

The dolls are part of the toy line coming out in early December. There are two types and both look very much like Bieber. One is named the Justin Bieber Music Video Collection Singing Figures, that plays the songs Baby and One Less Lonely Girl, and are dressed like his costumes in the music videos of the songs. The other one is named The JB Style Collection and the dolls are costumed in his memorable outfits from awards nights and other red carpet events.

Those dolls would make great Christmas presents for those young Bieber fans in your list. But if you are thinking of the cost, perhaps $20 for each figure plus taxes, you might just settle for something more affordable. This is the My World all hit album collection from Bieber. The CD is a combination of his first two albums, My World, which has One Time and One Less Lonely Girl and My World 2.0 which has Baby plus other big sellers like Eenie Meenie with Sean Kingston, Never Let You Go, Somebody To Love and U Smile.

Ok I am still shaking my head. You can start shaking yours, too. Because like me you are also thinking Wow!, all these things are happening to Bieber because his mother posted his singing videos on the Internet. Somebody saw these, thought the kid had potential, introduced him to R&B star Usher, and the rest is history.

And now at the AMA. Eminem and Lady Antebellum top the list with five nominations each but the Bieber is not far behind. He has four and is expected to win some of them at this year’s American Music Awards.
