Catherine continues her quest to shine

MANILA, Philippines - Catherine Loria, 2008 WCOPA Junior Vocalist of the World and the Junior Grand Champion Performer of the World is slowly making her mark in the international scene.

After ABS-CBN A.S.A.P. ’08 recognized her as a champion, Catherine has been featured in Rated-K and TFC Connect.

Like Charice, Catherine joined many contests. She became one of the grand finalists in the ABS-CBN Bulilit Popstar (MTB); grand finalist in Eat, Bulaga!’s Batang Star; Weekly Champion on Q-11’s Popstar Kids; grand champion in BantayOCW Extreme Karaoke Contest; and the grand national champion of Kids for Christ at Expo Clark.

Having won the highest title given by the World Championships Of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood, Catherine continues her quest to recognize her full potential in the world as an artist. Her next destination is Singapore.

Catherine recently interpreted the song One Heart One Body One Soul that won second runner-up in the Singapore Youth Olympic Game Theme Songwriting Competition.

The song is composed by Catherine’s mentor/manager. The single, recorded in Singapore and produced by the National Youth Council, was tapped for Youth Olympic Games (YOG) awareness.

This paved the way for Catherine to be invited as guest at the Esplanade Outdoor Theater in Singapore, where she performed before a packed crowd composed of various nationalities last Aug. 16 and 18.

Catherine delighted the crowd with her rendition of cover songs from Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Lauryn Hill, Destiny’s Child, Lea Salonga and Justin Bieber.

A tearful American middle-aged lady hugged Catherine. An American sought Catherine’s autograph. The Esplanade management was impressed by the way Catherine handled her concert and is looking forward to her comeback next year.

Another observer, a businessman who handles big artists in Korea like Tina Turner and Sting noticed Catherine’s big potential. He asked her to audition in the Marina Sands for a series of performances. The Philippine Embassy headed by ambassador Minda Cruz together with different Filipino organizations in Singapore, supported Catherine.

The concert truly opened doors for Catherine.
