Shaina: It didn't happen

After weeks of silence, Shaina Magdayao finally confronted the ugly rumor circulating around the world that she and her boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz were caught “locked onto each other” and brought to a hospital to be “untangled,” she covered with a blanket.

“It did not happen. It’s the most outrageous tsismis sa industriya natin,” Shaina said, speaking in Taglish, at yesterday’s presscon for her new afternoon series Alyna on ABS-CBN, co-starring with Sid Lucero, Jason Abalos and Kaye Abad who were with her at the presidential table. “Masyado yatang nanonood ng Grey’s Anatomy (yung nagkalat ng tsismis na yon). Kung nangyari sa totoong buhay, pupunta ka ba sa ospital samantalang public figure kami?”

According to the wild rumor (no doubt circulated by an evil, insane, idle mind), Shaina and John Lloyd were first rushed to a hospital (unidentified) in Pasay City which lack facilities so they had to be transferred to St. Luke’s Medical Center.

Contacted for comment, Marilen Tronqued, vice president for customer affairs of St. Luke’s, told Funfare Update, “It’s totally untrue! They were seen at St. Luke’s WALKING to the nursery to visit John Lloyd’s cousin who gave birth.”

Doctors interviewed by Funfare Update said that such a case could happen but very, very rarely. Several years ago, it happened to a couple in Cebu who were fetched “locked up” at a motel and brought to a hospital to be “untangled.” It was found out that the couple were married to other partners so a case of adultery was filed against them. Thus, it became a police matter and landed in the papers.

Doctors said that one such case is called Vaginismus. That’s when the woman suffers from vaginal muscle spasm and “locks” the partner’s penis inside her. The other case is called Penis Captivus, and it happens when the man’s erection doesn’t subside even after ejaculation inside his partner or when the man is taking Viagra. One doctor added that it could happen also if a couple have sex while “stressed out.”

At the same presscon, Shaina thanked the people who have defended her and John Lloyd.

“Gusto kong magpasalamat para na rin kay John Lloyd sa mga nagtanggol sa amin. Inuulit ko, hindi po totoo na may ganoong nangyari. Maraming-maraming salamat sa lahat ng dumepensa sa amin. Di po kami gaano nakapagpasalamat sa mga dumedepensa sa amin.”

Asked if she had any idea who could have started the wild rumor, Shaina said yes, she did.

“We have some suspects,” she said but she didn’t name names.

With her clarification, it’s hoped that the rumor would be thrown to the garbage dump where it belongs — along with the rumor-monger (who should be bothered to death by his/her conscience).
