Another Fil-Am talent wants to conquer recording scene

MANILA, Philippines - It was Marvin Estrella’s big dream to be a recording artist and after many years of showcasing his singing talent in various competitions in California, where he has been residing with his family since l992, he finally realized this dream.

Estrella just released his self-titled debut album (partly recorded in Los Angeles) featuring Vehnee Saturno’s composition, Huwag Nang Matapos Pa as carrier single. It has been enjoying airplay on 91.5 Energy FM, 97.1 LSFM and 102.7 Star FM. Three tracks in the 12-track album are revivals, while the rest are Saturno songs.The album is distributed by Synergy Music Corp. and is available in SM Record Bars nationwide.

Other Saturno songs are Ang Aking Puso, Sa’n Ka Na Ngayon, Wake Up, Taking You Home, Kulang Man sa Lambing, Nasaan Ka Man, Sino Ang Hindi Iibig? and Will You Hold Me? while the three revivals are Pa’no Kaya (originally popularized by Jessa Zaragoza), Whitney Houston’s All At Once and I Can’t Say Goodbye to You.

A graduate of a four-year course in Telecommunications, Estrella is a network analyst at British Telecom in LA. He is on leave but will go back to LA soon to fulfill two singing commitments this month. Aside from singing in mini shows, Estrella was back-up singer in Katrina Halili, Kris Lawrence and Jonalyn Viray’s concerts in the US.

He also auditioned for American Idol Season 7 and although he did not make it, he considers it a great experience that enhanced his quest for excellence.

Estrella was only six when he started showing a passion for musical performance by joining amateur singing contests. He wants to be known as a versatile singer. He also writes songs. He hopes to use some of his compositions in his next album.
