Illegitimate kids on OFW Diaries
MANILA, Philippines - For so many OFWs in Saudi Arabia, homesickness and the many hardships of working so far away from home often become so unbearable. Often, they find themselves hanging on to whatever relationships they have in Saudi just to make it through the next day, the next month and the next year. However, some of these relationships become adulterous.
Take the case of “Lili” (not her real name), a domestic helper and TNT (illegal immigrant) in Saudi. She left behind two children in the Philippines. But her next homecoming will reveal a painful truth to her family — she brings with her a two-year-old child, the result of an extra-marital affair while she was in Saudi.
Even sadder is the fact that Lili’s child is only one among the growing number of children born out of extra-marital affairs of OFWs in Saudi. Many of these illegitimate children, most of them hanging around Pinoy safe houses, have been largely neglected and they face an uncertain future.
Who is looking after their welfare? How are their rights being protected? What will happen to “Lili” and her two-year-old child?
With host Kara David, catch a glimpse of the fate of these illegitimate children and of the lives of the OFWs in Saudi in OFW Diaries tonight after Saksi on GMA 7.
