MANILA, Philippines - The PLDT-SMART Foundation continues to warm the hearts of the teachers through the Gabay Guro or 2G Program. Apart from its Teachers’ Day Tribute every October, 2G is gearing up for a year-long program with a special tribute being prepared for this year’s World Teacher’s Day celebration to make it more meaningful and special for the teachers.
Led by Manny V. Pangilinan with PLDT Finance head Chaye Cabal, the 2G program aims to uplift the lives of the teachers across the country through livelihood projects and scholarship grants with over 200 education students in various state universities nationwide. For the past two years, 2G has been conducting English proficiency exercises and literacy training programs to thousands of teachers nationwide. In addition to its roster of esteemed trainors, 2G will enlist the country’s top motivational speakers as volunteer trainors. Last year, 2G has also started “broadbanding” schools by providing them with computers and PLDT myDSL service for free.
Very soon, 2G members will enjoy discounted PLDT myDSL broadband Internet plans like Plan 990 for only P742.50, and laptop computers for as low as P12,000 through the Gabay Guro Tribute Card and teacher-friendly partners.
It is no wonder that 2G’s love for the teachers have elicited the support of celebrities and local government units. Vice President Jejomar Binay, Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla, Lorna Tolentino and Albert Martinez have all pledged their support for 2G.
