One of the many starrers of Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces was Langit at Lupa, produced and directed by FPJ himself, using the ‘alias’ D’Lanor (the letters of his first name, Ronald, scrambled). Offcam, FPJ is Ronald Allan Kelley Poe.
Susan represents Langit (Heaven) in the film, playing a nun. FPJ is Lupa (Earth), a good if misunderstood and misjudged man.
There’s a romantic angle, but of course, in Langit at Lupa, filmed in the late ’60s, said to be inspired by the Hollywood movie Heaven Knows, Mr. Allyson, where Deborah Kerr (nun) and Robert Mitchum (soldier) are stranded on an island. — RKC
