MANILA, Philippines - Beauty and personality matter much when it comes to hosting. The Kapuso network sees the need to deal well with such requirement. Thus, they have fielded in some of the brightest faces and upcoming stars into their shows, digging deep into the roster of GMA Artist Center to ensure it is always favorably addressed.
A new crop of hosts/VJs is lighting up the TV screen brighter than ever, comprised of one hot mama, a boy-next-door catch, and four It girls. These six add to the good mix that anchor high-rated programs such as Unang Hirit, Party Pilipinas and The Sweetlife.
Regine Tolentino is back in the 10-year-old Unang Hirit, now the longest-running morning program on Philippine TV. She first joined the Arnold Clavio-led line-up in 2004 and has now rejoined the team to the delight of early-risers.
Character actress Luanne Dy, who last year played support-role Vivien for the Anne Curtis-starrer series The Wedding, has likewise joined the UH gang of hosts, along with Pia Arcangel, Connie Sison and Monica Verallo.
Bella Padilla, on the other hand, has shown her hosting ability in Party Pilipinas. She excels in hosting, dancing, and acting, being the niece of Robin Padilla. She is part of the cast of the new drama series Endless Love which has gathered the troika of Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera and Dennis Trillo in one romantic primetime tear-jerker.
Meanwhile, prominent Korean expatriate Grace Lee is now a fixture of Pinoy TV, having landed her first hosting job in 2007 when she began segment-hosting for Q-11’s The Sweet Life. Recently she replaced Andi-9 to join in Mo Twister and Mojo Jojo in the controversial FM radio program Good Times with Mo.
In addition, she now handles the Chika Minute airtime for the weekend presentation of 24 Oras, so does the Showbiz Silip portion of News On Q.
Nicely rounding up the pretty six are two personalities that have become familiar through the PLDT MyDSL campaign. Steph Henares and Gino Dela Peña are two techie celebrities invited by PLDT to serve as models for its product and the chic lifestyle it is elevating.
Now, their tandem banners once again as hosts of Q-11’s X-Life which airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. Together with JC Tiuseco, Steph and Gino enjoy on-cam the X-life, experiencing extreme sports challenges with the prime objective of promoting healthy and fit lifestyle.
Gino, who gained initial TV exposure in a McDo commercial, sums up the journey of all six of them. “I wanna live life in a way that I would be the best in what I do,” he said.
