It’s over!
The first time Funfare Update used that headline was several years ago when Pops Fernandez admitted with a heavy heart that everything between her and husband Martin Nievera was finished: It’s over when it’s over! The couple’s marriage has been annulled since then.
Only recently, Funfare Update used the same headline when Krista Ranillo admitted in an exclusive interview in L.A. that whatever relationship she was rumored to have had with an equally controversial figure was behind her, especially now that she has started a new love life with her childhood boyfriend with whom she has recently reconciled. Krista said that she was “taken out of context” but Funfare Update stands pat on its story even if Krista said that what she was referring to were the intrigues when it was very clear during our interview (with Tim Evans of the US Immigration as witness) that what we were talking about when she said “It’s over!” and “Yes, of course, mayroong closure” was her rumored romance with him (italicized; the man was not identified in the story but was referred to only in a pronoun).
Once again, Funfare Update is using that now very popular and familiar headline, this time about Kris Aquino and James Yap who have broken up just days before Kris’ Kuya Noynoy was inaugurated 15th President of the Philippines last June 30 — It’s over na talaga, with the last two words added to emphasize the painful reality that Kris is serious this time, with their recent break-up, yes, the last and final one, unlike in previous similar incidents when the un-couple was convinced to give their six-year marriage another, and another, and another chance.
Neither Pres. Noynoy Aquino nor his sisters Ballsy, Viel and Pinky could make Kris change her mind about the finality of it all, ending a marriage monitored every step of the way by the media and notwithstanding Kris and James’ promise to her mom, former Pres. Cory Aquino, never to separate days before Pres. Cory died on Aug. 1 last year.
Kris and James haven’t talked to each other since she and sons Joshua and Baby James (Bimby for short) left home to temporarily stay at a five-star Makati hotel, returning only after James vacated the home which they jointly bought only late last year and moved to a condo unit in Ortigas Center by his lonesome.
It’s now their respective lawyers who are set to sort out whatever issues have to be resolved, presumably including division of property.
In fact, Kris’ lawyers from the Marcos Ochoa Serapio & Tan law firm have already started the legal proceedings.
Here’s the lawyers’ short but complete statement (signed by Anna Liza G. Logan and Anne Sharlyne M. Goboy-Lapuz) addressed to Kris’ soulmate Boy Abunda who requested for a copy of it. Boy himself furnished Funfare Update a copy of the statement.
Dear Mr. Abunda,
Hereunder is our response to your request for a statement from the Firm as counsel for Ms. Kris Aquino on her much publicized separation from Mr. James Yap:
“Ms. Kris Aquino has recently announced that she has decided to end her marriage to Mr. James Yap and asked us to initiate the appropriate proceedings for the purpose. She believes that this is for the best interest of all concerned, especially her children. We shall take the necessary steps at the soonest possible time and request everybody to respect the privacy of the parties and let the legal process take its course.
We hope you find everything in order.
Kris left on Thursday, July 8, with Joshua and Bimby with their yayas and Kris’ trusted aide Alvin for L.A. where they took a connecting flight to Orlando, Florida, leaving estranged husband James home alone. It’s the first time Kris is traveling with only their children and without dad James. Kris said that she won’t be around for her Kuya Noy’s first SONA (State of the National Address) on July 26 but she will be home in time for her mom’s first death anniversary.
In an official statement, James said he would fight to save his marriage for the sake of the children. But it seems that there’s no more marriage to fight for.
James wasn’t available to comment on Kris’ recent (legal) move. Stand by for what he has to say.
(Note: For further details on Kris Aquino’s “legal moves,” tune in to this afternoon’s edition of The Buzz, starting at 4 o’clock, with Boy Abunda and KC Concepcion, together with new co-hosts Toni Gonzaga and Charlene Gonzalez.)
