A dream come true

Duane Canon - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Marc Cubales, 24, a native of San Mateo, Rizal, has a dream and he pursued it relentlessly, not stopping until he saw that dream come true.

He has always wanted to help his kababayan his way. And that he did --- with flying colors!

But I’m ahead with my story.

I first met Marc at a party when he was just a nursing student supporting himself through college by working as a bellboy in a hotel in Makati City. He also wanted to be an actor so he attended acting workshops, appearing in a few TV shows.

Then, he went to the United Kingdom where he started a modeling career and at the same time finished advance studies in Manchester in 2007.

“Marc is a simple guy with a big dream,” confirmed his friends and relatives.

Flash-forward to 2010: Now a successful young man, Marc came home and fulfilled his dream of helping his kababayan, especially the school children in Rizal, particularly those in Wawa Elementary School in Montalban (above) where he distributed 3,000 slippers and raincoats. He also started a feeding projects in other schools also in Montalban and donated a multi-cab to the police station in Burgos, Rizal, and a Mitsubishi Adventure for the use of the S.W.A.T. team in San Jose, also in Rizal.

Last June 7, Marc was given an award by the Philippine Provincial Office (PPO) of Rizal (top) for his dedication to and support for the community.

If only we have more people like Marc, our country will be a happier place to live in.
