The Aksyon Lady now serves Europe
MANILA, Philippines - Last July 1, life became even more interesting for DZMM anchor Kaye Dacer. The host of the award-winning public service program Aksyon Ngayon Global Patrol (1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Mondays to Fridays) will reach out to our kababayan in Europe via TFC (The Filipino Channel).
“We’re already seen and heard in the US, the Middle East and other foreign countries. Now, it’s Europe’s turn. And I’m excited about being the conduit that will extend help to our kababayan in Europe and to our fellow Pinoys in the Philippines,” says Kaye.
Experience has taught her that Filipinos in Europe are composed mostly of professionals who enjoy a comfortable life there. Thus, they are in a better position to help. And they do, especially in times of calamities and other emergencies.
“We will work closely with our Europe News Bureau chief Danny Buenafe,” she says. Buenafe’s string of correspondents can relay the Europe-based Pinoys’ needs to Kaye and vice-versa.
Because of the time difference, Aksyon Ngayon Global Patrol airs in the morning in Europe, instead of early afternoon in Manila. It also airs mornings in the Middle East.
“We brought 15 OFWs from the Middle East back to the Philippines after their contracts expired last December,” says Kaye.
This, she did through Middle East News Bureau chief Dindo Amparo, his team of correspondents and the show’s anonymous donors.
Aksyon Ngayon not only paid for the OFWs’ plane fare. The staff also welcomed them at the airport and brought the OFWs to Kalinga Center where they stayed before they went to their respective homes.
Also last year, Aksyon Ngayon served as conduit that channeled the donations of OFWs in Hong Kong to the Ondoy victims in the country.
This year, Kaye plans to expand the programs’ benefits to OFWs by giving them a sari-sari store showcase to get them started on their own when they return to the country.
A public service show on TV is also on the drawing board.
Completing the Aksyon Ngayon Global Patrol team are Fr.Tito Caluag, head of ABS-CBN Integrated Public Service, Zaldy Naguit, Aksyon Ngayon Center chief, co-anchor David Oro and Paul Gene Bea, program coordinator asst. head of resarch.
Aside from anchoring Aksyon Ngayon, Kaye holds free lectures on personality development at the Manila City Hall and is a member of the board of directors of the Bubby Dacer Development Foundation. She’s also past president of the Rotary Club.
Despite her busy schedule, the mother of three manages to look stress-free and refreshing, on or off-cam. That’s because she finds time to pamper herself at Faces and Curves.
“Faces and Curves is my beauty secret,” says Kaye. “I won’t look the way I do now without it.”
