MANILA, Philippines - Piolo Pascual continues to reach greater heights as he ventures into a different role in his newest series, Noah.
Piolo has been a constant proof that being in the business for quite a long time is never a barrier in making an actor’s star shine ever brighter. His successful concerts, platinum record albums and endless product endorsements are apparent substantiations that he is and would still be an icon.
It is not easy to maintain one’s radiance in showbiz but, the actor has done it. His remarkable debut performance as Primo in the movie Mila made way for the countless opportunities, making Piolo one of the most charismatic and paramount leading men of the entertainment world today.
In 2002, he received a grand slam feat for portraying the role of Eliazar Bartolome, an activist during the Marcos regime in Dekada ’70, together with Vilma Santos and Christopher de Leon. He won a total of eight awards from all existing award-giving bodies that time in the Best Supporting Actor category. His outstanding portrayal in Lobo won for him the Best Actor Award in the 22nd PMPC Star Awards For Television last 2008. Last year, he starred in Manila, an indie film about a drug addict named William who tried to reconnect with people close to him.
Piolo’s talent does not end in front of the camera. He produced a number of projects including the hit comedy film Kimmy Dora starring Eugene Domingo.
Piolo has also established himself as a soulful singer. In 2003, he released his first album, My Gift, and had a series of successful concerts. The actor also released his sixth album recently called Decades: Songs from ‘50s, ’60s and ‘70s, still under Star Records, which consecutively reigned the Odyssey sales chart during the first few months after its release.
On the small screen, Piolo played Oslec (Mangarap Ka), Adrian (Sa Piling Mo), Noah (Lobo) and Carlo (Lovers in Paris) which enabled him to expound his limitations as an actor.
Piolo will be playing the role of Mikael, a police who will lose his son in an accident that changed their lives. Also starring in the series is Zaijan Jaranilla, the child wonder known as Santino. From an angelic boy in May Bukas Pa, his character will change into a boy raised in the wild.
The theme song for the fantaserye, sung by Piolo, is penned by singer-composer, Ogie Alcasid. It is titled Kahit Malayo Ka.
