May the best dog win

MANILA, Philippines - On June 27 at 9:30 a.m., there will be barking, skipping and dancing as Red the Charming Poodle, Samboy the Tough Aspin and Boomboom the Zesty Pup try to outclass each other to win the title of the first-ever GMA 7’s ZOOperstars.

First is Red the Poodle who has charmed everyone with his dance numbers, ranging from the crowd favorite Nobody But You to the classic Pearly Shells. Aside from his mass-appealing signature struts, Red is set to take cuteness to a higher level by gracefully frisking through hoops and skipping ropes. With the adorable mishmash of skills, the fans of the cute pooch would not be able to resist cuddling him all the more.

Samboy the Asong Pinoy (Aspin) has corrected the misconception that native dogs are mere second-rates to pure breds through his impressive display of strength, wit and obedience. In more ways than one, he has successfully taught viewers to trample the victimizing askal mentality. Proudly representing native dogs up to the final battle, Samboy will execute his master’s orders which are articulated in Filipino and put his physical vigor to the test by walking through a thin wire.

Boomboom the pup has always been a breath of fresh air. Aside from his fetching name, he never fails to surprise viewers with a hilarious combination of tricks. For the last hoorah, Boomboom will teach audiences how to jump backward and dance the tinikling, compelling everyone to cheer boom-boom-BOOM.

Also gracing the grand finals are Steven Silva, Enzo Pineda and Rocco Nacino. Hosts Julian Trono and Sabrina Man will join them in dancing Usher’s OMG while host Gelli De Belen will ask them about their latest gigs.
