Pinoys patrol their future
MANILA, Philippines - Patrol for the future of this country.
ABS-CBN New and Current Affairs makes this call to all Filipinos as the nation moves forward to new government with the election of a new set of leaders.
As another chapter in Philippine history is to unfold, ABS-CBN is empowering citizens to patrol for the country’s future via Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo that calls on each d every Filipino to actively participate in solving the nation’s problems by becoming agents of change in their communities.
“Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo is about taking responsibility of the future. The only way we can do that is by fixing the problems we have today. We want Filipinos to not just recognize that there is something wrong but to also do something about it,” said ABS-CBN head of newsgathering Chi Almario-Gonzalez.
ABS-CBN officially launched BMPM last June 15, with day-long activities various points in Manila, at the Colegio de San Agustin in Bacolod and the Divisoria Amphitheater in Cagayan de Oro, where people came to register as volunteers or Bayan Patrollers.
In line with the opening of classes, Umagang Kay Ganda, TV Patrol World and Bandila also featured young Bayan Patrollers who have begun change in their communities by reporting and acting on the problems in their schools.
Toni Gonzaga, Jericho Rosales and Piolo Pascual also shared how they will contribute to change in plugs aired on ABS-CBN.
ABS-CBN head of news and current affairs Maria Ressa said the launch of Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo marks an important milestone in ABS-CBN’s commitment to citizen empowerment.
“There is no better time to do something for the country but today. Bayan Mo, iPatrol Mo gives people a fresh start in taking responsibility of the nation and our future. If there will be Bayan Patrollers in schools, in the government, in corporations, and in the streets, who all want and are working for change, then there is nothing impossible for the Philippines as a country,” she said.
