Ace Cruz's Outrage at Cannes

MANILA, Philippines - Hollywood-based Filipino actor, director and producer Ace Cruz recently attended the Cannes Film Festival where his latest film, Outrage was screened and exposed in the Hollywood Reporter. Ace is the only Filipino in Hollywood who has done films featuring Hollywood actors.

“This is my 11th year at the Cannes Film Market. My purpose in going to the market is not only to sell movies, but to understand what the world market wants to watch. My film, Outrage was screened and it was successful. I also walked the red carpet premiere of Robin Hood and met with Hollywood action star, Don ‘Dragon’ Wilson for a possible project in the future!” exclaims Ace.

After making six films, Ace hopes to make a film he can submit to a film festival like Cannes.

“I want to do a commercial film but at the same time, dramatic and compelling enough to be selected to the Cannes Film Festival. With Outrage, it will have a theatrical release in the US like Dallas, Atlanta and will be released here also with a big premiere night,” says Ace.

Ace’s ultimate goal is to work as Hollywood director.

“Yes, that’s right. I went to USC Film School where George Lucas and Steven Spielberg came. There are three types of people that run Hollywood. The gay community, the Jewish community and the USC alumni. I sort of belong to the USC alumni. I want to make a box-office film. I think I have the education and the training and experience! That’s my goal! And I can do it!” discloses Ace.

Ace wants to follow the footsteps of Woody Allen, Sylvester Stallone, Kevin Costner who starred, directed and produced their own films.

Thus, there’s no stopping him in pursuing his ultimate objective in penetrating Hollywood and who knows, his film, Outrage may be the start of this new phase of his international career. Assisting Ace in his vision is the executive producer of his latest films, Pauly D who is also an investor on the movie. Pauly is a big real estate developer in Atlanta.
