True to its name
MANILA, Philippines - It makes real sense that members of local girl group Eurasia are finding themselves touring the two historic continents for some good gigs. After all, their very name is formed by combining the names of the two big-land masses.
Yet there is more meaning to the connection. The country’s “wonder girls” and Viva’s newest sensation to date has begun to conquer the area, with their recent Asian tour considered a smash hit. The five-piece feminine force is set to perform in parts of Europe this month, and by July will be back re-invading crowds in other parts of Asia.
Eurasia is now one of Viva Artist Agency’s hottest items among its stable of pretty, talented acts. Its certification as an in-demand act is proven here and abroad, considering that they’re billed Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at the upscale Resorts World Manila while doing rounds outside Philippine shores from time to time.
The strikingly pretty girls behind the hit remake of the classic Working Girls movie theme add glitter to their accomplishments with the release of their self-titled debut album from Viva Records. The album launch was done at Q.C.’s new happening place Bliss Ultra Club in Tomas Morato.
Eurasia’s 12-track package boasts of intelligently-arranged version of the said ‘80s number originally written by Manila Sound stalwart Mon Del Rosario. The carrier single, Ikaw Ay Perfect, appropriately suggests tonal flattery and the perfect 10 look the group collectively projects, thanks to Gold’s Gym for keeping them fit.
The classy, sexy group is composed of Fil-Japanese Kristine Nieto (first-runner up of Be Bench search), Fil-German Lana Roi (pageant winner spearheaded by Century Tuna), pure Pinay Gail Nicolas (2007 Mossimo Bikini Summit Grand Champion), Fil-Italian Sara Polverino (Ang TV alumna) and Fil-British Kelly Ann Gamboa. They are currently seen performing on GMA-7’s Sunday show Party Pilipinas.
Other original cuts in their album are Kaya Mo Yan, Honey My Honey, Don’t Be Shy, Boy, Hinding-hindi (Ka Magsisisi), Floating, All I Want, Init Ay Madarama and Sumayaw. Cool renditions of Walk Like An Egyptian and Mambobola serve as dessert to an already good meal.
