MANILA, Philippines - Even infants do concerts as Musikgarten joins Stardev Music School in a recital-concert headlined Breaking Barriers through Music at the Teatrino Theater & Bar in Greenhills Promenade tomorrow, May 29.
Over 40 students including five toddlers of the two music schools will take the stage in a three-hour musical production, the sixth annual summer concert organized by singer-educator Michelle Junia.
“It will be first show for Musikgarten but the sixth for Stardev,” Michelle said, adding that Musikgarten in Manila opened only last March. Michelle owns both Musikgarten Manila and Stardev Music School .
According to Michelle, Musikgarten is a popular child development program in the US that heavily uses music and movements in the development of infants from zero to five of age.
Michelle finished her formal studies in music, cum laude, major in voice at the UST Conservatory of Music and trained in the US in teaching music to children and even professional singers.
“We do this annual recital concert to showcase and test student’s progress in his training, first, and to build confidence in these young artists, second,” she said, adding that “part of the objective of training is to eliminate fears of the stage at an early age, even with toddlers as performing before a crowd builds self confidence.”
She said the Musikgarten babies, the youngest is five months old, will participate with their parents in a performance number while students of Stardev will showcase their talents in singing and dancing with musical instruments.
Breaking Barriers through Music is supported by Blow-up Babies, HIP Culture and Victory Liner which all share Michelle’s vision of using music to promote creativity and good habits among children.
Musikgarten and Stardev are located at the second floor of Paragon Plaza Bldg., EDSA cor. Reliance St., Mandaluyong City.
