Curtain-raisers:
• Looking two years back, a movie columnist learned too late (but with amused relief) why his interview with an action star and a comedienne was delayed for about an hour, set at the office of the company which was producing their movie. What the columnist remembers — with malice towards none, I assure you! — is that the two came out of the room with bits of sweat on their brows (retouch their make-up, pronto!) and a big smile (of satisfaction, it turned out!) on their faces. Now the columnist knows why: The two did a “quickie” behind the door (reminiscent of the Godfather scene with James Caan and a nameless starlet). Hmmmm, was that why the leading lady was wiping her mouth before she sat down for the interview? Did she, uh, “burp”?
• A US-based sexy actress could have easily made a comeback had she wanted to. That was a few years back when she still looked “fresh enough.” All her manager was asking was for her to “come clean” — you know, stay away from drugs. It’s rather too late now. Said a Funfare California DPA, “She has ‘dried up’, as in mukha siyang natuyo.” What a pity! So how does she sustain herself? Added the DPA, “She’s just a ‘call’ away.” Hello!?!
• A hunky singer-TV host recently made a quick trip to the US to meet up with his actress-girlfriend he has been missing like crazy. All the while, he was deathly worried that his girlfriend might fall for the (irresistible?) charm of a world-class superstar she’s performing with until such time when she has to come back to fulfill her own “international” commitment. The guy came home rest assured that the superstar, who is very much married, is not taking his girlfriend out in-between their gigs.

The Sexy Chef, so named for obvious reasons (read: slim, svelte and sexy sisters), is known for its high-protein-diet which can be ordered by delivery right to your doorstep. While this diet program is still enjoying much success, The Sexy Chef has expanded its services to include catering, ready-to-order meals and kiosks in Gold’s Gym. This month, The Sexy Chef is launching two new services calculated to help you shed weight in a delicious and nutritious way.
Called The Pounds Away Diet, the new program is a calorie-controlled diet conceptualized in cooperation with US Certified Fitness Nutritionist and Weight Loss expert Nadine Tengco.
“It has all the properties of a sound eating plan and it works on the principle of eating the right food at the right time in the right portions,” Rachel explains. “Our clients have already reported weight loss of eight to 14 pounds in the first two weeks. I’ve been trying the diet now and in just a few days I can already see results!”
Taking into consideration the gender, age and activity level of each individual, the meals are planned by number of calories (1,200, 1,400 or 1,600). The program consists of breakfast, lunch and dinner, and two snacks. Other recipes clients can look forward to are Asian Chicken Salad, Pasta Bolognese, and even a nutritious and delicious burger just to name a few.
“The food included in the Pounds Away Diet is tasty and surprisingly satisfying,” Chari Arespacochaga of Atlantis Productions shares. “The diet is the closest thing to a lifestyle change for weight-loss program that I’ve tried. It makes you feel like a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating are truly doable.”
“I could hardly believe how fast the results were,” adds singer, music producer, and entrepreneur Niño Alejandro, Rachel and Barni’s cousin. “Not only was the food delicious...I was losing a pound a day on the diet. In the end, I knocked off 14 pounds and got to enjoy delicious meals at the same time.”
In addition to the Pounds Away Program, The Sexy Chef has also come up with “Sparty” catering. Yes, you read it right Sparty — as in Spa-Party. In cooperation with Organic Rituals Spa, IHealth and Theme ala Carte, The Sexy Chef can provide themed spa parties for any occasion (bridal shower, birthday party, or even just an afternoon of with close friends).
“It’s the perfect combination of spa services, eco-friendly themed giveaways, and healthy finger foods such as California Maki Pinwheels, Shanghai Chicken Meatballs, and Vegetable Crudite with Hummus all perfect for a relaxing afternoon with the ladies,” Barni says.
With two new successful program launches for her business, a new album, and another big stage show on the horizon, things are definitely looking exciting for Rachel, who is the embodiment of successful multi-tasking. Not only is she entertaining audiences everywhere with her gorgeous voice, she’s also making Manila sexier and healthier, one client at a time.
