Bitten by the love bug

MANILA, Philippines - Here are the first exclusive photos from the shoot of The Last Romance, the first offering of Love Bug, the new GMA soap starring Dennis Trillo and Carla Abellana, around Hong Kong including Disneyland.

In the soap which premieres mid-May, Carla plays Rackie, a fitness instructress who, for some strange reason, gets afflicted with brain cancer. She has already survived it once, but the tumor returns. This time, it is staying and spreading, prompting her doctors to say that this is it...she only has about three months to live. 

Against everyone’s advice, Rackie embarks on a last cruise in Hong Kong, not expecting to find her last (and most real) romance in Hero (Dennis). Her journey to accept her death becomes her journey of discovering the wonders and miracles of life and love. But will love be enough to heal her? Will her heart beat her cancer-stricken brain?

Hero, on the other hand, is a tour and events organizer on the cruise ship. He loves to make plans, to organize and to be on schedule. This translates even in his own life. At 24, he already has his own townhouse, his own car and, as he had earlier planned, he will marry his long-time girlfriend, Remy (Iwa Moto), when he reaches his 25th birthday in a few weeks.

Rackie was never in Hero’s plan book, but when she comes to his life, Hero’s life goes on a complete turn-around. Will his life go as planned, or will he give this whirlwind romance a chance? What if he later finds out that Rackie is dying?

Love Bug is calculated to move, inspire and delight audiences with stories that recall all the thrills, anxieties and the intangible butterflies-in-the stomach feeling that came with being young and in love. Comical and/or poignant tales of love, friendship and heartbreak will be featured in each episode.

Like Dear Friend, Love Bug will still cater to the youth as its main audience and each story will still run for a month (or four episodes). It will feature new and interesting loveteams, starting with Dennis and Carla.
