Girl power takes over Manila
MANILA, Philippines - On June 25, Manila will get to meet Elle Woods, the heroine in Legally Blonde The Musical. Elle is a perfect sorority girl who thinks her life is about to take a turn for the better as she anticipates the wedding proposal of her perfect boyfriend. The fateful night arrives and, instead of a wedding proposal, she gets dumped by her man because she was simply not “serious” enough for his future plans. In her quest to win back her guy, Elle ends up as a student in Harvard Law School (along with her adorable Chihuahua Bruiser). There Elle finds her strength and her smarts, conquers the halls of justice and meets her true love.
The delightful, fun-filled show makes its way to Manila thanks to a new pink friendship. Atlantis Productions teams up with Metrobank Femme Visa for Legally Blonde The Musical, with Nikki Gil as Elle Woods and Nyoy Volante as Emmet Forrest.
“Metrobank Femme Visa was designed especially for the woman on top of her game, ” says Aileen Vallesteros, Metrobank Card Corp. marketing head. “Like Elle Woods, the Femme Visa cardholder knows what she wants and works to accomplish it in the most glamorous fashion. Partnering with Atlantis Productions for the staging of Legally Blonde The Musical is our way of once again honoring women who exude the beauty, panache and signature style that Elle embodies.”
“We couldn’t be more pleased to welcome Metrobank Femme Visa into the Atlantis family. Creating exciting theater is always made more fun with the support and generosity of companies like Metrobank. It is also timely that the style, wit and power of such a larger-than-life character like Elle can find sisterhood with a brand that stands for the very same things,” says director Chari Arespacochaga.
The all-singing, all-dancing Broadway musical is based on the smash hit movie of the same title. With music and lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin and book by Heather Hach, the show is on its US National Tour and is playing to packed houses in London’s West End.
Legally Blonde The Musical runs at the Meralco Theater from June 25 to July 18. For details, call 892-7078.
