Filscap songwriting tilt finalists
MANILA, Philippines - The Filscap Foundation, Inc., last week announced the names of the finalists in the Filscap Songwriting Competition. There are three finalists in each of the four categories of the contest, pop, novelty, R&B and rock chosen from over 500 entries by panels of music lovers and industry professionals.
These are:
Pop Category: Choices by Felipe Monserrat, Gabriel Sevilla and Lily Alunan; I Won’t Feel Blue by Arcyllin Arcilla; and Love Can Just Save The Day by Antonino Regalado and Adrienne Sarmiento-Buenaventura.
Novelty Category: Bloom by Edwin Marollano; Isaw by Krina Cayabyab; and Walang Kadala-dala by Moy Ortiz.
R&B Category: Ganito Ganyan by Caba; Like I Am With You Today by Louie Canaria; and Luvsong Tambay by Jim Dacanay and Justin Dacanay.
Rock Category: Raven by Tao Aves; Tayo Na Sa Ulan by Ted Reyes; and ‘Wag Mong Isipin by Ronaldo Sorioso.
The winners will be revealed after a live performance of the entries before a panel of judges on the night of the finals on May 21, that will be held at the Skydome of SM North EDSA.
At stake for the grand prize winner is a cash prize of P200,000 for and a trip to Australia to participate in the Song Summit 2010 Conference in Sydney on June 19 to 21. It will feature internationally acclaimed artists and songwriters and panel discussions on topical issues regarding the music industry at large.
There are also cash prizes for the winners of every category in the amount of P50,000, first prize; P30,000, second prize; and P20,000, third prize. The 12 finalists will also be featured in a commemorative album featuring top singing stars.
The Filscap Foundation is the music nurturing arm of Filscap, The Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. It was established to preserve and make known the music legacy of the Filipinos; to provide incentives for composers and authors to continue making hits; and to discover and nurture the talents of young composers.
