Iron Man 2 in RP ahead of US date
MANILA, Philippines - Iron Man 2 hits Philippine theaters five days ahead of its US show date. Selina Gecolea, UIP Philippines country manager, explains the reason behind this early offering, making it clear that it is a part of her advocacy on anti-piracy measures in the country. What’s more, she is excited in behalf of all Filipino fans whom she knows are eagerly waiting for this sequel, for they will have the privilege to see it first.
Directed by Jon Favreau, Iron Man 2 stars Oscar Best Actor nominee, Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire inventor Tony Stark. Now that the world is aware that Tony Stark is the armored superhero Iron Man he is forced to share his technology with the military. But Stark refuses to divulge his secrets behind the Iron Man armor fearing that wrong elements will take hold of the information and use it for evil. Together with Pepper Pots played by Gwyneth Paltrow and James “Rhodey” Rhodes (War Machine) played by Don Cheadle, Tony Stark will build new alliances and meet head-on with powerful new forces.
An ensemble of new characters include Oscar winner nominee Mickey Rourke signed in as Ivan Vanko and alter ego Whiplash, Scarlett Johansson also participates as the S.H.I.E.L.D. undercover spy Black Widow, Sam Rockwell graces a comic relief as Justin Hammer, and Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Nick Fury. Also, look out for director Jon’s cameo role as Hogan, Stark’s trusted bodyguard and chauffer.
