Titans beats Date Night at the tills

-

Los Angeles (AP) — Clash of the Titans has taken down Date Night at the weekend box office after all.

With final numbers in from the studios last Monday, Clash of the Titans retained the No. 1 spot for a second-straight weekend with $26.6-M. Date Night debuted in second-place with $25.2-M, nearly $2-M less than distributor 20th Century Fox had reported a day earlier.

Fox estimated that Steve Carell and Tina Fey’s comedy pulled in $27.1-M about $200,000 more than Warner Bros. reported for Sam Worthington’s action hit Clash of the Titans.

Flip-flops in the box-office rankings are rare, but they occasionally happen because figures are based on projections that can change when studios release final numbers.
