MANILA, Philippines - “So far so good” is how Richard Gutierrez describes his career the past year or so. Actually, he’s being modest, understating his achievements. Chard’s career is flying high: Top rating soaps on GMA 7, box-office hits, many endorsements and several awards.
The actor treasures most the Fr. Neri Satur trophy for environmental heroism. Chard is an advocate of keeping the country clean and green, of conserving and protecting our forests, flora and fauna, seas and rivers, and other natural resources. He hosted TV specials tackling environmental issues and problems.
Chard looks forward to spearheading an environmental concert billed Kapuso para sa Kalikasan on April 16 at the SM Mall of Asia concert grounds. It will be shown on GMA’s Sunday Night Box-Office (SBNO) on April 18. Top bands and performers will join hands in sharing music and information on relevant environmental issues of today.
The actor has started shooting In Your Eyes with Anne Curtis and Claudine Barretto for GMA and Viva. It will be shot partly in the US.
He’s preparing for the celebrity edition of Survivor, where as host he’ll rough it up with star contestants. In his soaps, TV specials, movies and commercials, Chard has proved he has what it takes to be an action star, doing risky stunts. Off-cam, Chard is just as daring. Remember how he and a friend rescued Cristine Reyes from the rampaging floods in Marikina, risking life in the process?
Late 2010, the Pinoy superhero Captain Barbell will return to GMA.
Richard Gutierrez topbilled toprating action-adventure soaps like Mulawin, Lupin, Asero, Sugo, Kamandag, Captain Barbell, Zorro. His last show was, for a change, a romantic-comedy, Full House.
Along the way, Chard faced a number of obstacles but, thank God, he survived them all. He looks with gratitude for all the blessings and looks forward with optimism.
