MANILA, Philippines - Everyone decked in their finest arrived at posh Fiamma Bar in Makati City as it played host to Chikka’s party to welcome 2010 and prepare for its 10th anniversary.
Chikka founder Dennis Mendiola and CEO Chito Bustamante looked back at an exciting decade in the Philippine tech scene, where Chikka helped set the pace by launching its breakthrough text messenger in 2001. The two Chikka pioneers spoke of the shape of things to come in 2010 and beyond where Chikka will definitely define the trend once more in the country’s web and mobile tech scene.
Chikka is better known for launching the world’s first instant messenger to be seamlessly integrated with SMS technologies. Chikka Text Messenger was embraced by the on-line community, including overseas Filipinos, as it united them with the sea of SMS users in the country since 2001.
Chikka’s corporate communications team of Junie Agcaoili and Michelle Pestaño, welcomed guests on arrival and also played emcees at the party themed Glam and Glee. The night peaked as guests and employees poured into the dance floor and grooved to live music. Celebrity guests included reknowned composer Jed Balsamo, Jaymee Joaquin and Dimples Romana.
