Geneva & KC break up

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -

Curtain-raisers:

• Text message from Connie Sison: Quiet time: “God’s presence” — Four years ago, my mom woke up from a five-week coma. This news came as a surprise even to her doctors who diagnosed her as “almost brain dead.” Today, I see my mom happy and healthy. She is a reminder that miracles still can happen at this day and age. I am assured that the same God who walked with the great men and women in the Bible now lives within us. No power can defeat the God who guides us. The God who blessed them is just as capable of working out His purposes in our lives. The same God who gave them victory over seemingly invincible enemies and impossible situations is prepared to work powerfully in all of us today. The heroes of the faith have one thing in common: They were all ordinary people with extraordinary faith in our God. Times may change but God’s promise to be with us when we call on Him is constant. Let’s keep the faith!

• Glad to hear from Carlos Agassi that he’s healthy. In fact, he finished a 21-kilometer “Run United for Wellness,” sponsored by Unilab, in two hours and 19 minutes. It’s a relief to know that Carlos is in the pink of health, contrary to unfounded rumors that he was suffering from a kidney ailment caused by steroids. It’s about time Carlos returned to acting...soon!

• Congratulations to Karen Davila for having been chosen one of only three Filipinos considered as “Young Global Leaders for 2010” by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The WEF is a non-profit organization based in Switzerland known for gathering leaders of states and industries in a forum that tackles the world’s most important issues. Karen said that she will attend the 2010 World Economic Forum with fellow honorees such as world-famous tennis player Roger Federer, singer Wyclef Jean, and the founders of Internet hubs (Twitter, Google and YouTube).

“We still love each other very much,” Geneva Cruz told Funfare in an exclusive interview yesterday, “but then, we have grown apart.”

With that, Geneva confirmed the suspicion that she and KC Montero (real name: Casey Wyatt Miller) have been separated for several months now.

“There’s no third party,” added Geneva, either on her side or on KC’s side.

The un-couple have been together for almost 10 years. They first lived together before they got married on Jan. 5, 2004 in a small ceremony at the Millers’ house in Seattle, Washington State, USA, with only KC’s parents Cody and Cynthia Miller, Geneva’s dad Boyet Cruz and Geneva’s sisters Aubrey and EJ as witnesses.

Geneva was previously married to Paco Arespacochaga, now based in California with his wife and child, by whom Geneva has a son, Heaven, now 14, who is close to KC. Geneva and KC have no child of their own.

When Geneva came home two years ago after living with KC at the Millers’ house for almost four years, showbiz-watchers suspected that something was wrong with her marriage. Geneva vehemently denied it, until now.

“God knows we tried hard to save our marriage,” said Geneva, but then...

As of this writing, KC is on his way to Texas to watch the Pacquiao-Clottey fight on Saturday, March 13 (Sunday, March 14, Manila Time).

“He’s a Pacquiao fan,” said Geneva.

KC’s brother, Troy, is married to Aubrey Miles with whom he has a child.

Episodes, ‘in the service of the Filipino talent’

I take my hat off to Pinky Marquez and company for putting up Episodes Company “in the service of Filipino talent.” In economically-challenged times like this, artists need an agency like Episodes to provide them jobs.

Said Pinky, “Episodes Company came about in the wake of the devastation caused by Ondoy and Pepeng last year. Several groups emerged ready and willing to lend a hand to those greatly affected but sadly, only a few remain. Because of our eagerness to continue to serve our less fortunate brothers and sisters, we decided to bond together and form a service-oriented production company that ensures part of its profits be allotted to certain beneficiaries.”

The team is composed of TV, film, theater and stage enthusiasts “with a passion for musical excellence combined with a compassionate heart in producing socio-economic relevant shows.”

With Pinky as executive director, the set of officers is composed of Allan Dale Alojipan (managing director), Cesar Balitaan (administrative and finance director), Jenny Villegas (public relations director), Nodge Chua (marketing director), Alvi Siongco (creative director), Victor Felarca (technical and stage production director) and Ferdie Nadera (talent and production supervisor).

Among Episodes’ projects (all set at the Music Museum) are Remarkable Kids with Baihana and Friends (Mica Torre, Kris John Gonzales and Clark Gamul, plus Are You The Next Big Star?  winner Geoff Taylor and new discoveries Janine Robles and Migs Ramirez), set for tonight starting at 7 o’clock; and The West End Duo with Ima Castro and Yael Pineda, March 25.
