Sam receives gold record award
MANILA, Philippines - Sam Concepcion recently received a gold award on A.S.A.P. XV for his first album under Universal Records. Sam’s award was handed to him by Billy Crawford and Universal Records managing director Kathleen Dy Go.
Sam performed a production number with his current boy group A-Pop (with Young JV, Nel Gomez and Jacko Benin). Sam also rendered the song I Miss You.
Sam’s current single Missed You is taken from his latest release Pop Class DVD. Produced by Ito Rapadas, Sam’s debut CD includes the hits Even If, I’ll Find Your Heart and Happy.
Sam instantly captured the hearts of the public when he won in the ABS-CBN talent show Little Big Star in 2006. He has a string of Candy Cutie Awards sponsored by Candy Magazine; Nickelodeon’s Pinoy Wannabe Award; Pure N’ Fresh Top Teen Awards’ Top Teen Male Entertainer Award and was named Favorite New Artist in the third MYX Music Awards.
He also topbilled Stages’ production of High School Musical, a critical and commercial success, as Troy Bolton. Sam was tasked to sing the theme song Kung Fu Fighting for the international animated movie Kung Fu Panda, thus making him the first local artist to have sung for Hollywood film company Dreamworks.
In the concert scene, Sam proved why Gary Valenciano handpicked him as his successor alongside Billy Crawford.
On TV, Sam played Boy Bawang in the superserye Super Inggo; young Piolo Pascual in Walang Kapalit, Betty La Fea’s younger brother Andrew in the ABS-CBN adaptation of the hit Colombian franchise, Bobet in Your Song Presents: Boystown and A.S.A.P.
Sam is one of the faces of Bench and Skechers, as well as the endorser of Karate Kid fast food chain. He has numerous advocacies. Sam is Department of Education’s (DepEd) ambassador, and a World Vision stalwart. He credits his success to the support of SAMster, which has been following every detail of their idol’s career and are always present in Sam’s every activity.
