Timeless R&B, soul stars at the Big Dome
MANILA, Philippines - All roads lead to the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City tomorrow, March 9 for a memorable evening of timeless R&B and soul sounds from two of the biggest names in contemporary pop music who gained fame for their achievements in the fields of R&B, rock and soul music.
R&B/soul singer and songwriter Michael McDonald will combine talent and style with rock and soul star Boz Scaggs as they wow Pinoy fans with their greatest hits during their much-awaited back-to-back concert.
To be mounted by Ovation Productions, Michael McDonald and Boz Scaggs Live In Manila! promises a new concert experience showcasing the finest R&B and soul music that only the two singing legends can provide.
Michael McDonald is an American R&B/soul singer and songwriter whose husky, soulful baritone voice made him one of the most recognizable artists of the past 25 years and, perhaps, the greatest “blue-eyed soul” singer.
His extraordinary ability to bridge rock, adult contemporary and soul led to his recognition as a leading solo singer and backing vocalist during the California pop/rock era in the late ‘70s.
Boz Scaggs, on the other hand, is the slick, smooth pop/soul singer of the mid-‘70s who became a sensation when he scored a major triumph in 1976 with “Silk Degrees,” his most successful commercial feat to-date.
Featuring a smooth, slickly produced sound that many recall as being disco but more accurately anchored on the bridge between pop and soul, the recording was a smash hit, staying near the top of the charts for over a year on the strength of the songs Lido Shuffle, What Can I Say? and It’s Over, as well as terrific album cuts like Georgia, We’re All Alone (later remade in lesser fashion by Rita Coolidge) and Harbor Lights.
Scaggs’ 1980 album, Middle Man, scored big with two singles, the rock-oriented Breakdown Dead Ahead and the smooth Jojo.
It is also supported by The Philippine STAR, Manila Bulletin, Business World, Magic 89.9, 96.3 Easy Rock, Monster Radio RX 93.1, Wave 89.1, Jam 88.3, 90.7 Love Radio, 97.9 Home Radio, 105.1 FM Crossover, 99.3 FT, OptimaSignsolution and Focalcast Network.
