Star-studded Century fun run

MANILA, Philippines - Stars joined thousands of health and fitness buffs at the recent Century Tuna Superbods Run 2010, at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.

The “run of the century” drew over 11,000 health and fitness enthusiasts to get into a healthy lifestyle through running.

A vacant block within Bonifacio Global City was transformed into a vibrant, bustling hub that celebrated health and fitness with its many booths and activities — from yoga and capoeira sessions, roller races and photo booths, to a bustling Century Tuna Supermart and sampling stations that provided tasty treats to guests.

The paparazzi had a blast that day as business tycoons, media moguls, showbiz stars and local sports celebrities were captured racing with runners and health buffs to the finish line. Leading the pack was Century Corned Tuna endorser Derek Ramsay, who was joined by former Century Tuna Superbods winners Jon Avila, Ram Sagad, Patty Ortega, Van Victor Leaño and Theresa Fenger.

Also joining the runners were Gloria Diaz, Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Iza Calzado, Rhian Ramos, Maricar Reyes, Rafael Rosell, Victor Basa, Marc Nelson, Dyan Castillejo, Isabelle Daza, Georgina Wilson, Daniel Matsunaga and Leo Valdez.

Numerous water stations manned by gorgeous models were all over the race tracks to ensure runners were properly hydrated and motivated. After the run, participants were given food packs containing a mini-buffet of tuna salad, nutritious tuna sandwiches and fruits so they can recover their strength after the race. Paramedics and ambulances were on stand by to make sure any emergency will be immediately addressed.

Century Pacific Group GM Gold Tantoco said it was the company’s way of thanking loyal consumers for making Century No. 1 through the years. “Our consumers helped us become a market leader. And as a market leader, we want them to feel they are important to us. This is the reason we left no stone unturned in ensuring the run would be an enjoyable, unforgettable, world-class experience for all of them.”

Proceeds of a raffle-for-a-cause were donated to the UNICEF and the WWF.

Century Tuna’s commitment to health and fitness has inspired it to come up with the much-awaited yearly Superbods event. Tantoco added the event was more meaningful because “we’ve inspired more people to be fit and active; more people realized they can get started on a healthy lifestyle, regardless of the season or setting. It’s our way to keeping them inspired and motivated to stay fit and healthy.”

Besides joining the events, hundreds of race finishers went to a go-see to become the next Century Tuna image models. Male and female runners lined up, walked up the stage to show off their healthy bodies, hoping to bring home a modeling contract and P100,000 cash prize from Century.
