MANILA, Philippines - As fitting preparation for the feast of St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church, on March 19, the Congregation of the Oblates of St. Joseph in cooperation with Music-Theater Foundation Philippines will present a special showing of acclaimed musical Song of Joseph on March 7, 3 p.m. at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. The first original Filipino full-length musical on St. Joseph is based on books and lyrics by Fides Cuyugan-Asensio, music by Mar Jeannelle and Raymond Roldan produced by Fr. Ron Alkonga, OSJ of the Oblates of St. Joseph.

Song of Joseph, The Musical is a religious music-theater masterpiece born out of love and devotion for the man who “took care of the interests” of Mary and Jesus. It is the life, the love and the glorious death of St. Joseph put into words and music. It depicts the enduring love of Joseph for Mary, its joys and sorrows and the reward of a glorious death for having lived faithfully his divine call to be Mary’s and Jesus’ protector.

Leading the cast as Joseph is Jon Joven, a gold medallist at the 2006 World Championship of the Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Hollywood, and Tricia Amper-Jimenez and Arlynne Lupas-Tecson as Mary. The teen Jesus is played by Miguel Aguila, an ALIW award Hall of Famer and the youngest member Angelos.

The cast also consists of top performers like Emlyn Olfindo, Mar Jeannelle, Raymond Roldan, Melanie Dujunco, Jenny Villegas, Christine Carlos, Maricris Joaquin, Charlene Magalit, Dondi Ong, Raymond Roldan, Jonaf del Fiero, Greg de Leon, Edwin Decenteceo, and child Jesus Adi Exconde. The musical is directed by Dingdong Cabazor.

The musical seeks to promote devotion to St. Joseph and is highly recommended for husbands and wives.
