Time travels in movies
MANILA, Philippines - The possibility of time travel has long been a question. Some people believe it, but most people don’t. Like people, movies also take different sides when it comes to explaining about the possibility of time travel. Some movies don’t even take a side at all and would just leave the answer to the viewers themselves. What’s fun about watching this kind of film is that it sparks curiosity and it brings amazement. Below is a list of movies about time travel: (enjoy watching it; but, don’t get lost in time)
The Time Traveler’s Wife. Henry (Eric Bana) and Clare (Rachel McAdams) have a unique love story. Clearly they are in love with each other but Henry seems to be lost most of the time. Henry is gifted with an uncontrollable ability to travel through time; because of this, their relationship becomes abnormal. How can they stay together if Henry keeps on traveling through time?
Somewhere in Time. Just by looking at a portrait, Richard (Christopher Reeve) instantly falls in love with the woman in it. She is Elise (Jane Seymour), a young and talented theater actress of her time — that’s during the early 1900s! Not considering time as a hindrance, Richard is determined to go into Elise’s world even if it means to travel through time.
Time bandits. The 1981 fantasy film is about a boy who joined six dwarves in their time-traveling adventures. They are not just ordinary curious travelers; they are bandits who are going to take treasures from the past itself. What would future be without the treasures of the past?
Planet of the Apes. The least that an astronaut would like to experience is to get lost in space. However, the astronaut in the movie didn’t just get lost, he landed on a strange planet at a strange time where apes are the ones who rule and humans are the slaves. Truly a time no one wish happens.
Butterfly Effect. Evan (Ashton Kutcher) doesn’t realize his amazing ability until in his college years. He has the special ability to alter his life and the people around him by concentrating and then traveling through time. Now, he opens his old diary to start his travels in hopes of making a better and ideal present and future life. Is it a good idea to alter one’s past life? Playing God always has its consequences.
Back to the Future (Trilogy). The trilogy has become a science fiction favorite ever since it was shown. The creativity and imagination of the makers are undeniably amazing. Years may have already passed since the showing of this trilogy, but Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and Marty’s (Michael J. Fox) time travel adventures will never be forgotten by its viewers.
Time Cop. The movie is set at a time when time traveling is already possible and can be accurately done. To prevent abuse of such technology, the government organized a security group. Max (Jean-Claude Van Damme), whose wife was killed upon his recruitment in the firm, has become a key agent of this special force. As Max works on a case, his personal life gets affected. Which time will he go to protect his own life: Past, present or future?
Groundhog Day. Actually, the movie is not about traveling through time; instead, it is about being stuck in a certain time. Phil (Bill Murray) is an arrogant weather man who is about to experience a time of his life, over and over again. It won’t stop repeating until Phil gets to learn his lesson. What a way to learn life’s lessons.
Kate and Leopold. Can two individuals from totally different eras fall in love? Kate (Meg Ryan) and Leopold (Hugh Jackman) are to show viewers just how complicated it is to be in love with someone either from the distant past or future, but of course it has its joys, too.
The Time Machine. The H.G. Wells classic novel-turned-movie is about a time machine inventor who plunges into his own invention to prove that time travel is possible and to change a tragedy that happened to his life. Surprisingly he lands into the distant future that’s hundred of thousand years in advance. It’s surely an interesting adventure film. What’s it like to be in such a distant time? It could be wonderful but it could also be dangerous.
