Ogie, Kundirana back in La Salle

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Ogie Alcasid is the guest performer in Reach for the Star: A One La Salle Benefit Concert topbilling the Kundirana on Feb. 17, 3 p.m., in De La Salle Health Sciences Institute (DLSHSI) in Dasmariñas, Cavite City. The concert venue is the newly-constructed De La Salle Animo Center. It has a 3,000 seating capacity.

Also guesting is Dr. Ramon Ma. Acoymo, an international renowned tenor and Aliw Hall of Fame awardee, as special guest. Both are former Kundirana members.

Select high school students from public schools in Dasmariñas City have been invited to watch the concert for free. The benefit show highlights the centrality of a Lasallian education in fulfilling dreams for the Kundirana, and students who will become the Institute’s future scholars.

The show, presented together with De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, and in cooperation with the Office of the Mayor of the City of Dasmariñas, is sponsored by corporate and individual donors. Proceeds of the concert will go to the One La Salle Scholarship Fund, an endowment which provides free scholarship for public school and indigent students who wish to pursue their degree in a Lasallian institution.

The DLSHSI offers courses in medicine, nursing, midwifery, physical therapy and radiologic technology.

Kundirana is a singing group composed of high school students from La Salle Greenhills. The group is recognized for its cultural and social work. In 2007, the group received the Benigno S. Aquino Award for Social Artistry. Kundirana, established in 1971, has produced Gary Valenciano, Randy Santiago, Dingdong Avanzado, among other personalities.
