MANILA, Philippines - Nine years after her departure from TV, Julianna Margulies returns to the small screen on Hallmark Channel’s latest offering, The Good Wife starting tonight at 9 with a two-part special and 10 p.m. every Thursday thereafter.
The award-winning actress, best known for her character Nurse Carol Hathaway in E.R., wows audiences once more with her powerful portrayal of a woman determined to stand by her man in The Good Wife.
Backed by a powerhouse cast, Margulies plays Alicia Florrick, a mother and wife whose life turns around when husband Peter Florrick (Chris Noth, Sex and the City) is involved in a public sex and corruption scandal that lands him in jail. Determined to provide a stable home for her two children and rebuild her family’s reputation, Alicia returns to her original career as defense lawyer. Reality kicks in as she realizes that she must start at the bottom of the corporate ladder as junior associate at the firm ran by former law school classmate Will Gardner (Josh Charles, Sports Night) and type-A personality Diane Lockhart, (Christine Baranski, Mamma Mia). Alicia finds a rival in Cary Agos (Matt Czuchry, Gilmore Girls) another junior associate at the firm as they are told they are in competition for the one available permanent position. Discovering an ally in Archie Panjabi, (Kalinda Sharma, Bend It Like Beckham) the firm’s in-house private investigator, she slowly increases in self-belief with each case she takes on. Watch as Alicia rises from the humiliation of a shamed wife and turns into a tough career woman, brave wife and protective mother.
Created by Robert and Michelle King, and joined by brothers Ridley and Tony Scott, Charles McDougall and David Zucker as executive producers, the show has proven to be a ratings leader for viewers in the US. Hailing positive feedback, The Good Wife has already earned Margulies Best Drama Actress nominations at the upcoming Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) and Golden Globe Awards. It has also picked up a SAG nomination for Outstanding Ensemble in a Drama series category.
