Does Jason Abalos consider himself a sex symbol?

“Honestly?” Jason laughed. “I don’t. I’m not that confident with my body. There’s a lot of room for improvement here and there.”

Asked to define “sexy,” Jason said, “Sa akin, sexy is beyond the physical; it’s more the dating. You know, how a woman carries herself.”

In 2009, although he wouldn’t admit it, Jason was at his sexiest career-wise, and at his most fulfilling.

“I would say that mas lalo akong nakilala noong 2009,” said Jason who figured prominently in the surveys of local filmdom’s sexiest males. “I was never without work. I was very visible on TV. Nag-overlap pa nga ang TV shows ko (on ABS-CBN). I was in Eva Fonda, Pieta, Nagsimula sa Puso, Kambal sa Uma and Tiagong Akyat (of the Ramon Revilla Agimat starrer series). Marami rin akong guestings sa TV (the last was recently on Maalaala Mo Kaya). I did two indies, both unreleased, Motorcycle (directed by Jon Red) and Rak en Roll (directed by Quark Henares and also starring Glaiza de Castro, Alwyn Uytingco, Ketsup Eusebio and Diether Ocampo).”

But in 2009, Jason was as shy as ever, unable to get out of his being a country boy. (As they say, you can get a boy out of the country but you can’t take the country out of a boy.)

“I want to be more sociable,” he promised. “That’s my New Year’s resolution. And to have more friends.”

His New Year wish?

“Sana more projects just like in 2009. Maski hindi masyadong umangat basta maraming ginagawa.”

• Sexiest book he has ever read: “I read crime novels, not romance. Come to think of it, wala pa akong nababasang sexy book. But I do scan sexy magazines like Playboy and FHM pero hindi madalas. Do I have a collection of those magazines? No! Nakikita ko lang sa mga friends ko.”

• Sexiest movie he has ever seen: “You mean, triple-X? I’ve seen a lot especially when I was in high school (in Nueva Ecija). So far, the sexiest movie that I’ve seen is Original Sin (starring Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie).”

• Sexiest scene in a movie: “The bed scene of Banderas and Jolie.”

• Sexiest scene he has ever done: “My beach scene with Cristine Reyes in Eva Fonda (the ABS-CBN teleserye). It wasn’t a love scene; we were just running, pero sexy ‘yung shot at sexy tingnan ang pagtakbo namin.”

• Sexiest song he has ever heard: “Birthday Sex, a new song by Drake.”

• Sexiest billboard around the metropolis: “The Bench billboard with Dingdong Dantes at ‘yung kay Angelica Panganiban.”

• Sexiest (musical) instrument: “The harp. Listen to it closely...di ba sexy ang tunog?”

• Sexiest concert he has ever seen: “The one by Katy Perry. I didn’t see it ‘live,’ I just saw it on TV. ‘Yung suot niya sexy, ‘yung movements niya sexy. Babaeng-babae siya kumilos.”

• Sexiest TV show: “Gossip Girl.”

• Sexiest place in his house: “My bedroom. There are mirrors around and I can see myself na talagang ako. You know what I mean. Hahahaha!”

• Food that he associates with sex: “Tahong (mussels).”

• Part of his body that he considers sexy: “My eyes...sabi nila!”

• Part of a woman’s body that he finds sexy: “The boobs. I think doon mo makikita kung gaano ka-sexy ang isang babae.”

• Sexiest pants: “A pair of denims that fits perfectly, hindi masikip at hindi rin naman maluwag. Tamang-tama lang. I feel sexy when I’m wearing that pantalon.”

• Sexiest underwear: “My Cotton Club boxers. I also like the Cotton Club boxers briefs (the one he’s wearing in the photos).”

• Sexiest pictorial he has ever seen: “Cristine Reyes’ pictorial taken on the superhighway, texting while she’s hitchhiking. That reminded me of Diana Zubiri’s sexy pictorial at the top of a flyover in Mandaluyong City.”

• Sexiest pictorial he has ever done: “The one for Cotton Club. That’s the ultimate...so far! Beyond the limits ang ginawa ko as far as I’m concerned. The pictorial took almost one whole day. I’ve been a Cotton Club endorser for two years now.”

• Three women he finds sexy: “Anne Curtis. Cristine Reyes. Rhian Ramos.”
