James on Kris: Loving-loving na uli kami
Curtain-raisers:
• A controversial starlet might be forced to stay abroad indefinitely because of her delicate condition. She underwent a “medical” check-up with a doctor in Cebu and she was given, well, “a clean bill of health.” The good news is that she’s, uh, “positive.” According to Funfare’s Cebuano DPA, “She was literally jumping and jumping with joy upon hearing the news.” I wonder how she broke the news (that is, if she already did) to her celebrity-boyfriend and how he reacted. Hmmm, did he perhaps also jump with...apprehension?
• On Showbiz Central last Sunday, Amalia Fuentes warned women against undergoing breast enhancement which she said could have caused her daughter Liezl Martinez’s cancer which was diagnosed as Stage 3 middle of 2008. Good warning. Amalia said that even smoking has adverse effects on the body. Can you just imagine what harm a highly-invasive procedure like breast enlargement can do?
• Sad news for the ardent followers (including Armida “Tita Midz” Siguion-Reyna and yours truly) of Dr. Gary Sy’s Sunday health program Gabay Sa Kalusugan on dzMM: It had its farewell airing last Dec. 7. Sayang naman because for almost six years the show dished out every good-health tip that you wanted to know. Very helpful, very informative. Was it poor rating? I doubt it. Three weeks before the show was axed, Dr. Gary was even congratulated by the executive producer for the show’s being the highest-rater among Sunday shows. Dr. Gary is clueless about what happened. Incidentally, copies of Dr. Gary’s book Gabay Sa Kalusugan are still available at Mercury Drug outlets.

To quote a cliche, all’s well that ends well.
After a week-long LQ (Lovers’ Quarrel), Kris Aquino and James Yap successfully ironed out whatever differences caused the rift between them during their family vacation in Bangkok. They left last Saturday and they should be back in time for the Aquinos’ media noche celebration — unless they decide to extend their vacation.
In reply to Funfare’s text inquiry, James texted back, “Loving-loving na uli kami.”
It does help to take time out from work and, to quote another cliché, to smell the flowers. For what’s the logic of working yourself to death “for the family” if in the long run it’s the family that will end up the casualty?
With Kris and James are their sons Joshua and James Jr. and the kids’ yayas and some of Kris’ trusted aides.
Cited by Kris herself as among the causes of their latest LQ was her lack of time for James...if you know what that meant. Kris said her first priority was their kids, followed by Noynoy’s all-consuming 2010 campaign. James left on Dec. 17 after his and Kris’ LQ and returned on Dec. 24 to join Kris and her brood at the noche buena at her and James’ Valle Verde home which they are vacating early next year when they move to a new house in Quezon City.
The “honeymoon” in Bangkok was a big help.
See what big trick a little “intimacy” can do!
Briefly noted
• Congratulations to Imelda Papin who inaugurated the Imelda Papin Museum last Dec. 18 at her North Fairview (Quezon City) residence. Pacmom Dionisia “Mommy D” Pacquiao cut the ceremonial ribbon. The museum features Imelda Papin memorabilia (trophies, clothes, jewelry, etc.). During the affair, Imelda gave Mommy D a surprise gift — a CD copy of the duet they recorded last month in Las Vegas under 618 International Records. Imelda also announced that Mommy D will be her special guest during her post-birthday celebration on Jan. 30 next year at Aliw Theater.
• The International Circle of Online Noranians (ICON) named Gloria Romero as recipient of the third ICON Award for Lifetime Achievement, given last Dec. 19 at the UP Film Institute during the silver-anniversary screenings of the Nora Aunor classics ‘Merika, Bulaklak sa City Jail and Condemned.
