MANILA, Philippines - Aiza Seguerra, Karylle, and Luke Mejares are alternately featured as guest performers when the semifinals of the MBC National Choral Competition gets underway on Dec. 15 to 18 at the Aliw Theater, Star City Complex, Pasay City.
Renz Verano will co-host the week-long event together with Karen Golfo. Radio announcers and deejays from DZRH, 90.7 Love Radio, 101.1 YesFM, and 96.3 Easy Rock will also be around to entertain audiences.
Forty choirs from various parts of the country will vie for the grand prize in each category. Leading the children’s choirs are two-time champion Hiyas ng Pilipinas, Kasama ng Sinag Intermediate Chorale, Malate Catholic School, Maryville Gawad Kalinga Sagip Choir, Vox Angeli, Batasan Hills Elementary School, Banaba Elementary School-Tarlac, DSWD-Mandaluyong, AUP Young Voices, SPED-ISEC Iloilo, Pasig Catholic College, ICC Children’s Choir, Calasiao Children’s Chorus, Musika Ibarang, Juan Luna Elementary School and the OLPC Children’s Choir.
Coro de Manila, in turn, will defend its title in the open category against University of the Cordilleras, FEU Chorale, Tarlac State University, Handog Music Ministry-San Fabian, Genesis Chorale, Coro Animo, Mapua Concert Singers, Deus Antiphon, PUP Bagong Himig Serenata, San Antonio de Padua, Adamson University, Koro Ilustrado, Manila Adventist Medical Center Church Choir, Music and Praise Chorale, Musicainta, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, Coro San Benildo, St. Louis University Glee Club, University of the Visayas, Manila Chamber Singers, Bukidnon State University, San Jose Chorale of Davao and In Harmony Chorale.
