MANILA, Philippines - Vice Presidentiable Edu Manzano may not be that visible on TV anymore. But the former OMB (Optical Media Board) chair has managed to add another feather to his cap in the field of television.
Edu earned one of the highest votes from thousands of Filipino jurors across the country to make it in Anak TV Seal’s list of most-admired and child-sensitive personalities on local television.
Edu is in good company. His fellow awardees are CNN Hero of the Year Efren Peñaflorida, Cannes Best Director Brilliante Mendoza and Ateneo de Manila class of 2001 valedictorian Roselle Ambubuyog.
Edu’s high ranking in the nationwide poll which asked jurors who their households favored among TV personalities has qualified him to belong to Anak TV’s Roster of Makabata Stars.
“I am deeply honored to get this award,” Edu said after receiving his latest honor in simple ceremonies at the Soka Gakkai Building, Tomas Morato, Quezon City.
He promised to live up to the award by continuing to be a role model to the youth who look at television as a favorite source of information and entertainment.
The seeds of good behavior Edu has planted since he began his career as a TV host are now bearing fruit. This makes his wholesome image among televiewers very much alive, even if they don’t see him as often as they used to anymore.
On hand to give Edu his Anak TV Seal were Roberto del Rosario and Mag Cruz Hatol, top officers of the annual awards.
The award is given yearly by the Southeast Asian Foundation for Children and Television
