Rossana and Divina: Sexy stars, fine actresses
Rossana Ortiz (below) and Divina Valencia (right), who reached their peaks in the late ’60s and early ’70s during the so-called bold wave, turned into fine actresses. They even won acting awards.
Osang was Asia’s Best Supporting Actress for the 1974 film Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara. Divina was not confined to sexy roles as she also excelled in dramatic parts and musical comedies, including the Sampaguita movie Bikini Beach Party with Eddie Gutierrez and Shirley Moreno.
Osang was a long-time London resident, while Divina is based in San Diego, California.
The likes of Elizabeth Oropesa, Daria Ramirez, Beth Bautista, Chanda Ramirez followed in the footsteps of Rossana and Divina. They started as sex symbols but became fine actresses. — RKC
