Miley, Paramore up for movie Grammys

SOUNDS FAMILIAR - Baby A. Gil -

You can bet a lot of tweens and vampire buffs will be among those rooting for their idols come Grammy night next year. This is because top teen star Miley Cyrus and hip band Paramore are among the year’s nominees. Miley’s big hit The Climb from Hannah Montana: The Movie and Paramore’s Decode are both up for Grammys in the Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, TV or other Visual Media category.

These two are strong contenders but I can also say the same for other nominees. Besides, given the Grammys’ predilection to go for the predictable and not rock the boat, Academy voters night decide in favor of The Wrestler by Grammy favorite Bruce Springsteen or Once In A Lifetime from Cadillac Records by another Grammy pet, Beyoncé or maybe because, it will be good for Grammys international image, the winner might turn out to be Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire.

Whatever the result, I am sure having Miley and Paramore in the running upped Grammys’ youth following.

The Grammy Awards will be held at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Jan. 31, 2010. I am sure fans out here will be able to watch the event via satellite on Feb. 1, 2010. Given past shows, I am sure this one will again feature great production numbers. And maybe, we will also be able to see what Kanye West will do should he find himself on the same stage as fellow nominee Taylor Swift. Meanwhile, we wait.
