Converse collaborates with Ernville

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Converse has something big up its sleeve. It has set its eyes on local band Ernville for a campaign spanning the Asia Pacific region.

Ernville, representing the Philippines for Asia’s Music + Lyrics campaign of Converse, was a finalist of the 2007 Nescafé Soundskool Inter-collegiate battle of the bands. The Converse Music + Lyrics initiative is a collaborative effort of 28 bands in 11 countries including China, Taiwan, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Thailand and Australia. Each band included in the campaign had lyrics of its song as part of the ads, and Ernville’s hit Gator Rocks makes the cut.

Established in 2005, the band is made up of front man Jim Bacarro on vocals and rhythm guitar, Ernest Aguila on lead guitar, Cholo Hermosa on drums and vocals, and Manny Tanglao on bass guitar. A band known for its groove intensified style which takes its music seriously, Ernville had endeared itself to music fans alike with the group’s intensified playful performances including robot dance moves.

It is undeniable that the spirit of these promising young men had not been dampened by earlier misses, and after a year of playing gigs around the different metropolises in the Philippine archipelago, often opening for other well-known local bands, and garnering fans from as far as La Union, Ernville is currently working on its much-awaited debut album under the tutelage and production geniuses of Raimund Marasigan and Buddy Zabala, both of the Eraserheads fame, on top of school work.
