A science stop for the Abrera family
MANILA, Philippines - To Paolo and Suzie Abrera, bringing their kids Leona, Jade and Nella to the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center was a welcome change from their mall-ing routine.
“It’s different from the usual shopping or movie-going stuff that we do,” says Paolo. “It was like an educational field trip right inside the comforts of the mall.”
That’s because visiting the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center takes families through a truly modern Science-learning experience.
“We like this idea of making the galleries interactive. It lets the kids explore and discover things for themselves. It makes for a very enjoyable experience for them,” Paolo says.
Ever the observant parent, Suzie noticed that her daughters’ favorites are “usually the ones where they can see themselves. Like at the Gesturetek, where they can see their movements on the big screen as they were playing virtual soccer. They also enjoyed the Fear Wall where they tried to catch the falling virtual oranges using their silhouettes.”
The Abrera family’s exciting excursion inside the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center likewise included a trip to the Virtual Reef, where they learned about life under the sea—among other things—thru Mr. T, the talking virtual fish.
And as they entered the Robot Inc gallery, the kids were again delighted to meet a familiar face: Astroboy. With their parents in tow, Leona, Jade and Nella all hurriedly asked to have their pictures taken beside the statue of the world-famous robot.
“We also appreciate how the galleries cater to different areas of interest. While our kids have their own inclinations, the Nido Fortified Science Discovery Center manages to draw their collective attention to science and technology.”
