Raygun wins Pinoys' heart

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - They may be a new band but British rockers Raygun received a warm welcome from their Filipino fans during their recent Philippine promo tour. Manila was the last stop of their Asian promo leg which took them to countries like Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore.

Made possible by PLDT myDSL, SM Supermalls, Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila and MYX, the band composed of Ray Gun on vocals, The Adj, guitars, Ben Lyonsmyth, bass, and Sam Embery, drums got the first taste of Filipino hospitality as enthusiastic fans welcomed them to the hotel they were staying. Nobody could forget their live performances in S.O.P. and their special showcase on SM North EDSA’s The Block where they wowed the audiences and soaked up the weight of music they have loved all their lives. Guitars whirled and electronics shimmered as Ray leapt around the stage to an insatiable drumbeat, pausing only to throw himself into the crowd, or make another instrument squeal. After the show, fans lined up wanting to get their photos and autographs. They also appeared on MYX shows and chatted with the fans on-line via myxph.com. Filipinos, meanwhile, proved how nice the band was as it toured radio stations and tried local dishes such as Sisig and Adobo.

Raygun just released its second single Waiting In Line after burning the airwaves with Just Because whose music video features them playing on fast cars. Members of the band got their name from the David Bowie song Moonage Daydeam who they also consider as their musical influence aside from Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars. Raygun’s musical blueprint mixes pop, art and melodies that move your heart, head and heels.

Raygun self-titled album is out in Cds under Sony Music.
