A 1st for Kris and Sharon

DIRECT LINE - Boy Abunda -

Queen of All Media Kris Aquino and Megastar Sharon Cuneta are working together in a movie project for the first time. They already started shooting for Mano Po 6 under Regal Films which is an entry to the Metro Manila Filmfest in December.

Many thought it was inconceivable for the two to be working together because of their frenzied schedules. “It is because of our love for Mother Lily at sa respeto na rin namin sa kanya. I think Sharon did this because she promised Mother Lily a long time ago. On my part I want to express my family’s gratitude to Sharon and to Mother,” explained Kris who is obviously excited about the movie.

Sharon said she did not expect Kris would volunteer her services to be a special guest. “She says that it‘s really like a thank you but she really doesn‘t have to. But I can‘t deny that it makes me very glad,” said Sharon.

Mano Po 6 has a powerhouse cast that includes Zsa Zsa Padilla and Heart Evangelista. Sharon is impressed with her co-actors. “Super galing ni Zsa Zsa. It is my first time to do a scene with Heart and I am impressed.“

Kris, whose last movie was in 2006, feels it is a reunion of sorts with Mother Lily who gave her her first movie. “That was 19 years ago, nakakaloka. And with this Christmas movie, makakasama ko ang the one and only Megastar and director Joel Lamangan who I really love.“

Mano Po 6 is one of the most exciting, most beautiful movies this year. Sharon and Kris are hoping audiences would love it. “Hindi kami mapapahiya talaga. Hindi rin kami mapapahiya sa Regal at mga Sharonians,“ added Sharon. Kris, for her part added, “When I read the script super ganda na. Mabilis ang pacing, and crisp ng dialogue, at ang Mano Po series would not be successful and would not be on its sixth installment kung hindi tinangkilik ng mga manunuod.”

John Lloyd, Bea together again

Talk of the town is Star Cinema’s Miss You Like Crazy, reunion movie of Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz. This early, both Bea and John are already on tenterhooks. “I’m nervous because John Lloyd and I have done films together and I am at a loss what else can we offer the public? I know John Lloyd has so many things to contribute because he is brilliant. That is why, this early, magsusunog ako ng kilay kasi ang galing niya talaga,“ Bea enthused.

Bea and John Lloyd will be joined by Maricar Reyes who is seen in Lovers in Paris. “I have to watch my figure. I have to look good on screen,“ said Bea.

John Lloyd is equally nervous about their forthcoming tandem together. “May konting kaba at takot. I want to deliver something new to movie-goers. Apart from that, I am excited to be with Bea again after three movies,“ he said.

Windows to the World

Christine “Tintin“ Bersola-Babao’s love for books started with a children‘s book about dolls from all over the world, a gift from her mom. Her passion for reading spurred her to write books primarily for daughter Anya. She and Anya are spokespersons for National Book Development Board, and are actively involved in Bayan Akayin sa Abot-Tanaw (BASA), a reading program for public schools. Tintin is writing another children‘s book, Si Kontra, Si Bida at Si Big Boy Buwaya, a commissioned story for BASA and the Center for Family Ministries of the Ateneo (CEFAM). The book will be launched this month.

Tintin‘s advocacy in getting kids interested in reading is the theme of renowned photographer Mandy Navasero‘s portraits for Asian Eye Institute‘s upcoming photo exhibit titled Windows to the World: A Celebration of Vision. The exhibit, which also features other well-known personalities will run from Nov. 6 to 8 at Power Plant Mall. Tintin will conduct a read-along session for kids on the first day of the exhibit.
