National Book Store teams up with Dingdong for Ondoy's young victims

MANILA, Philippines - Dingdong Dantes recently kicked off his autograph signing tour of YES! Life Stories: Dingdong at National Book Store Trinoma. It was the first stop of his tour and a chance for his fans to get up-close and personal with him.

During the program, Dingdong was visibly surprised when the host called on stage National Book Store founding chairman and The Philippine STAR columnist Socorro Ramos herself. “Nanay Coring” announced that National Book Store and National Book Store Foundation are donating 5,000 Project Aral Study Kits to Dingdong’s Yes Pinoy Foundation for the benefit of young victims of Typhoon Ondoy.

Dingdong shared some of the plans the Yes Pinoy Foundation made the night before. He mentioned that they will rehabilitate one of the public schools heavily damaged by the recent flooding and that the donation of school supplies from National Book Store could not have come at a better time.

National Book Store Foundation chairman Trina Alindogan adds, “We are trying to do our share to help the victims of Ondoy. Among other activities we have supported, we currently have Project Aral 2: Raising Hopes for the Young Victims of Ondoy where anyone can just go to any National Book Store and donate a P20 or P25 study kit which will help the young victims of Ondoy go back to school. In addition, the NBS Foundation will also be donating P5 for every Facebook or Twitter fan National Book Store has for the relief efforts.”

She adds that National Book Store Foundation is proud to support Dingdong and the Yes Pinoy Foundation. She says, “They share our vision for education and everyone is just really happy that we were able to make a donation at the perfect time. I think it is a very good sign for things to come.”
