Spreading joy & music

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - They crooned. They belted. They thrilled.

Twenty-one contestants put their best feet forward, dressed themselves to the nines and sang the songs in their hearts when Music Museum celebrated its 21st anniversary last August at the Promenade Food Court.

Kantahan at Pasiklaban, Music Museum Group’s (MMG) way of spreading joy and music on its big month attracted a lot of participation from students, housewives, business executives, marketing specialists and kids who all threw in their hats to join in the fun and pursue their passion in singing.

With Geneva Cruz, Isabella Gonzales, Karylle, Jan Nieto and Jimmy Bondoc looking on, the contestants danced, emoted, and tried to outdo each other with fast and slow numbers.

Twelve-year-old Jude Matthew Servilla from Bacoor, Cavite emerged the winner and also won the People’s Choice Award with Stand Up For Love by Destiny’s Child. John Mark Saga, 13, also from Cavite won second prize while Joel Roble from Mandaluyong bagged third place.

MMG president Precy Florentino vowed that Music Museum will always be on the lookout for developing new, young musicians. “The musicality of Filipinos is fantastic. Everybody performs well, no matter what their age or gender,” she said.

The event was also graced by German Moreno. He thanked the Music Museum for its contribution to the music and entertainment industry.

“A lot of our artists owe a lot to Music Museum for giving them their first concerts and exposure to the industry. More years to the Music Museum!,” he said.
