Madz alumni stage fund-raising concert

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Alumni of the Philippine Madrigal Singers (Madz) will hold a fund-raising concert titled Madrigaliana II: La Madrigaliana per Andrea at Philamlife Auditorium on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m.

The Madz is known all over the world for its riveting, moving and touching performances. It has been decades since the release of Madrigaliana album that producer Robert Delgado, a Madz alumnus, brought together esteemed colleagues to showcase their talents in a concert for a cause for its founder, Prof. Andrea Veneracion (photo).

The concert will be headlined by internationally renowned Madz alumni, who advanced their musical careers as conductors and professional singers. Madz alumni who have also distinguished themselves in the opera stage will be performing arias together with an alumni chorus and a chamber orchestra. This includes Aileen Espinosa-Cura, Luz Corazon Roque and Dean Ramon “Montet” Acoymo of the UP College of Music.

New orchestral flavors will be infused into favorite Madz songs like Sana’y Wala Ng Wakas, Prayer of St. Francis and Katakataka. As a finale, all participating alumni will be presented in a world-premiere performance of a piece dedicated to concert beneficiary, Madz founder and 1999 Philippine National Artist Andrea Veneracion who suffered a stroke in 2005.

The concert will be directed by Jonathan Velasco and produced by Robert Delgado. Ticket donations are priced at P500.
