What's next for Michael V after Yaya?

Honey De Asis Orio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - These days, some Yaya and Angelina followers are heading to theaters to watch the Michael V (Bitoy) and Ogie Alcasid’s movie, Yaya and Angelina: The Spoiled Brat Movie.

Bitoy says the movie is for the whole family, especially yayas. “They have to watch Yaya and Angelina because it has a whole new story and lessons to be learned. Yaya’s character is an amalgamation of many yayas, labanderas and housemates. This is a wake-up call to them,” adds Bitoy.

Bitoy, as the Yaya, thinks that playing the role is like second skin to him. “I don’t want to let go of the role. The costume really helps a lot,” says Bitoy. He can also mimic the accent of some househelps. “I have been exposed to the way they talk,” he explains.

Yaya and Angelina (played by Ogie) were first seen in Bubble Gang’s weekly segment Ang Spoiled, where spoiled brat Angelina always takes advantage of Yaya, her naive nanny. The tandem even popularized the trademark expression “whatever, you’re such a loser!” as it went beyond YouTube.

This made the writers decide to bring the story to the big screen and GMA Films and APT Entertainment greenlighted the proposal.

What will happen to Yaya and Angelina after this movie? If there is part two, three or four?

Bitoy explains, “Yaya and Angelina’s characters in Bubble Gang’s Ang Spoiled will remain. And the plan for this movie actually is to make it a curtain call for the characters in the segment. We can just decide what to do next right after we see the result of this movie.”

Bitoy adds that he will be having three more projects with APT Entertainment after Yaya and Angelina. So what will Bitoy be next — a fashion model, action star or a gay superhero? We’ll just have to wait and see.
