Cristine makes heads turn in Korea

Cristine Reyes is mum on former boyfriend Dennis Trillo’s rumored new girlfriend Pauleen Luna. And if rumor mills are to be believed, Dennis and Pauleen have unfortunately broken up. “How can they be separated when they never admitted that they were an item?”, someone complained. “I have moved on. Past is past. I am happy. I also realized that you can be happy even when single. Feeling ko dati malungkot pag walang partner. It’s fun to be alone. At least you find time to take care of yourself,” explained Cristine.

Dennis is still mourning the loss of a friend, JB, who died in an accident in Boracay last week. Dennis is one of the most talented actors of his generation. He is one of the four leads in the movie Astig, his first indie, which will be shown in competition at Pusan Film Festival in South Korea.

Cristine is now open to dating, but not solo dates. “I want my friends to be with me,” she said. She is also super happy these days because her TV series Eva Fonda won a Special Award for Drama Series at the Seoul International Drama Awards. Cristine was also nominated in the Best Actress category. Last week, she left for Korea to participate in the ceremonies where she was a presenter in two of the festival’s categories.

Her red carpet experience was memorable. “Parang Red Carpet ng Hollywood. Talagang pinaghahandaan nila,” she related. Eva Fonda, according to her, is popular in Korea. Some even called her by her TV show’s name. She also got to meet people who were smitten with her beauty. “Nakakatuwa. A producer of the CSI TV series gave me a card and told me to call him if ever I get to travel to the US because he will tour me around the CSI set.”

Cristine attended the Seoul Drama Awards with the director of her teleserye Jon Red and Frasco Mortiz and ABS-CBN entertainment head Linggit Tan. Korea must have given Cristine a good glimpse of how big and exciting the world is — for love and life!

Jennylyn’s vindication

Jennylyn Mercado is vindicated that her ex-personal assistant Rowena Mel Pulmano was indicted for qualified theft. In a resolution filed by Quezon City assistant prosecutor Arleen Tagaban, the prosecution found a probable cause to indict Mel of qualified theft because of Mel’s unlawful use of Jennylyn’s money amounting to more than P460,000.

The prosecutor’s office also dismissed the robbery case filed by Mel against Jennylyn.

“Ako na nga ang ninakawan, ako pa ang pinagbintangan na nagnakaw. Hindi naman tama. Alam naming lahat ang totoo. At ang totoo ang lalalabas,” said Jennylyn.

Truth will always prevail, Jennylyn by now should know this. What a tough girl, this Jennylyn is!

Tribute album for President Cory

The country’s biggest names in entertainment are featured in the tribute album to President Cory Aquino titled, The Greatest Love: A Special Tribute to President Corazon Aquino. Featured in the album are Regine Velasquez, Lani Misalucha, Ogie Alcasid, Piolo Pascual, Mark Bautista, JayR, Jed Madela, Ronnie Liang, Mcoy Fundales, Kris Lawrence, Sam Concepcion, Billy Crawford, Jose Mari Chan.

“After Tita Cory was buried, I got hold of a copy of the album again, listened to it and you know it was wonderful to hear those beautiful songs because you dedicated that to your mother,” said Ogie.

John Lloyd praises Ate Vi

John Lloyd Cruz is elated to have worked with the Star for All Seasons Ms. Vilma Santos in the movie In My Life which is now showing in theaters nationwide. “It was my first time with Ate Vi. Nakakalula. Sobrang lakas ng presence niya. Parang humihinga yong screen,” said John Lloyd.

John Lloyd is cast together with Luis Manzano who plays his lover in the movie. “Trust me magugustuhan niyo ang comeback movie ni mommy,” said Luis.

Vilma is all praises for John Lloyd. “He is not taking his career for granted. He takes his job seriously and is very passionate about it. At once kaeksena mo, nararamdaman mo yong acting na tinatapon sa ’yo. He is a very sincere actor,” said Vilma.

People are already raving about the movie. “Makikita mo dito kung bakit siya naging Vilma Santos. She is a great actress,” said film critic Mario Hernando.

“Vilma is the first Filipina actress who won eight Urian Best Actress awards. And twice Best Actress of the Decade and that makes 10 Urian. With In My Life, she might add another award. I just love her,” opined Butch Francisco.

A true blue Vilmanian, Sharon Cuneta exclaimed, “Kailangan mapanuood ko na sa sine. Hindi ko na hihintayin ang DVD.”
