MANILA, Philippines - “Work first” was Maja Salvador’s reply to dispel rumors linking her to this and that actor. The wagging tongues are pointing to Sam Milby, May Bukas Pa co-star Ron Morales and Jon Avila.
“I didn’t know how the rumors started,” shares Maja. “The Sam and me item perhaps began in Star Magic World Tour. With Ron, it was because people would see us work together.”
In another interview, Maja said that Sam never courted her. They just texted each other. And that didn’t bloom into love as many suspect. She also added that Sam’s busy schedule will not allow him to go out on a date with Maja.
Work is the same reason why tinseltown doesn’t see Maja and suitor Carlo Aquino together.
“My focus is my career,” says Maja. “I told him I can’t reply (to his messages) and go out with him.”
It’s all work and no love life for the young star.
Maja whose acting talent is, hands down, inherited from the Salvadors, simply enjoys her single blessedness with that bubbly, girlie attitude. If ever boys are off-limits at the moment, it’s because of her family. Maja is the breadwinner.
This is perhaps one of the qualities why Sisters Sanitary Napkins chose Maja as its endorser. Maja is a person young ladies her age should emulate.
The Kapamilya star recently had a simple, short entertainment at the Quezon Town Center’s Sioland Supermarket parking space in Candelaria, Quezon. Supporters and shoppers shrieked as Maja came out from the supermarket and welcomed the enthusiastic crowd. Everybody was treated to an afternoon of bonding and dancing with Maja. Sioland Supermarket owners Bishop and Elizabeth Sio also supervised Maja’s visit.
The young actress showed some moves with her back-up dancers and gamely treated four participants to a playful showdown. The girl with the Maja-Ikembot Mo moves won the contest.
Like the Sisters provincial tours in Mindoro and Lucena City, the event saw Maja with Aileen Go, VP of Megasoft, makers and distributors of Sisters, distributing give-aways like 150 bags to high school female students. The gift-giving was Sisters Napkins’ pat on the back for the students’ outstanding performance in school.
Sisters Sanitary Napkins promotes moral values, good health habits and academic excellence among public high school students.
After Candelaria, Maja and the Sisters Napkins team will visit female high school students in Dagupan, Baguio, Pampanga, Cavite, Batangas, Bicol and Laguna.
Meantime we won’t see Maja often in May Bukas Pa. The reason for her temporary exit is that she’s cooking up a new soap for fans and televiewers. Maja, who was tapped to do Moonriver and Anna Liza, will show her acting range in the small screen version of Nagsimula Sa Puso with veterans Jaclyn Jose, Gloria Diaz and Laurice Guillen. She completes the love story involving Nikki Gil, Jason Abalos and Coco Martin.
With Nagsimula Sa Puso, Maja is correct in saying that ABS-CBN has never neglected her. There’s always the right time for everyone.
