Home health care in Salamat, Dok

MANILA, Philippines - Home Health Care (HHC) officials have been guesting on TV and radio programs.

Recently, Dr. Mary Jean Guno, HHC managing director, and Dr. Doris Camagay, HHC’s geriatric program director were interviewed by Cheryl Cosim-Alvarez in ABS-CBN’s Salamat Dok.

Camagay talked about the different sicknesses common among senior citizens such as dementia and Alzheimer’s disease while Guno spoke on the various health services being offered by HHC to the elderly, including the two senior residences located in Quezon City.

The assisted living facilities at Teacher’s Village and Filinvest 1 are regular-sized homes but adapted for use by the elderly and manned by well-trained staff under the supervision of the HHC’s geriatric director.

The pair was also featured on ANC’s Shop Talk where they discussed the same topic. They also answered questions from those who watched the 3 to 4 p.m. live telecast.

Last month, Camagay was the featured guest of Health Check/Global News Network Newscast. She talked about graceful aging primed with a special, higher quality of life in which one might want to continue living privately in a place that offers security and protection.

Guno and Camagay are regular resource persons on AM stations, DWWW and DZAS. The HHC doctors alternate in the Friday edition of Dr. Jaime Galvez Tan’s program, Doc’s Orders, aired 8 to 8:30 a.m. on DWWW 774 khz. On DZAS 702 khz, the pair can be heard from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. every third Wednesday of the month. Aside from giving pointers on health care for the elderly, they also interact with radio listeners who have specific concerns.
